Hand in Hand: A Family Craft

I thought it would be sweet to make a craft, using cut out handprints from each member of our little family.

I made this craft in black and white since it’s my favorite color combination.  Our wedding was black and white and I hope that one day, when we redo our home office, it can be my black and white room.  We haven’t even begun planning an office makeover, and yet I find myself making and gathering black and white things…you know, just in case.  To be honest, I can’t really help myself.  Maybe one day I’ll share with you all the random black and white things I’ve been crafting and gathering over the past few years…

Perhaps one day this little piece of “family art” will have a place in our black and white office.

Anyway, back to the craft.  First, I traced all of our hands.  Mike and Annabelle’s hands in black, and mine in white.  I found a great piece of scrapbook paper for the background.

Then I laid the hands one on top of the other, first Mike’s, then mine, then tiny Annabelle’s.  After taping them down, I added a little caption: “Our Family 2012”.  Then I framed it.

I have to say, it makes me smile.  I love how itty-bitty Annabelle’s hand looks in comparison to her mommy and daddy’s hands.   And I also like the possibility that, one day down the line if we have another child, we could make this craft again with four intertwining hands.
