Look Who’s Hit The Big ONE!

A year ago today I sheepishly hit “publish” and posted my first ever piece on Cobwebs, Cupcakes & Crayons.  The Mama & The Belle, as that first post was titled, was a little introduction into who I was and why I was starting a blog.  I didn’t know much anything about blogging, I just knew that I wanted to create and share and write.

Fast forward 365 days and 167 posts later and I, well…I still don’t know what I’m doing.  But I’m enjoying the ride.

BLOG Blogiversary

BLOG CCCI still get butterflies every time I hit publish, no matter what the subject of the post, from the benign (think: Refrigerator Shelf Liners) to the heartfelt (think: Wishes & Hopes For You, Sweet Daughter).  It’s always scary to put your words, your projects, your thoughts, your life with your little family, out there for people to read and comment on and judge.

I still remember the feeling of getting my first follower that wasn’t a friend or family member.  (It was the lovely Katherine from Pillows A-La-Mode).  I remember staring at the email notification and thinking Holy Something-I’m-Not-Going-To-Write-Here, a total stranger is following my blog!  Someone who doesn’t know me, isn’t genetically predisposed to like me, is interested enough in my rambling to follow me.  I was touched.

And I can say the feeling hasn’t gone away.  I am still amazed (and grateful) every time someone new chooses to follow my tiny blog.  I adore your comments and appreciate every. single. one. of. them.

As I enter into this second year of blogging, I have a huge project that I am tackling to grow my little piece of the internet: To move my blog from WordPress to Self-Hosted.  It is something I have been thinking about for a long (long) time.  So long that I must admit to procrastinating out of fear.  But I know that the longer I wait, the harder it will be to make the move.  So, peeps, I’m taking the dive.  (For those of you that don’t know what making this move entails, Lauren over at The Thinking Closet, wrote a wonderful series about her move.  It’s seriously thorough, folks.)  So, please bear with me while I make the switch and work out all the kinks that are sure to pop up during the process.  Posts might be a bit light while I’m prepping for and making this move.  But rest assured, once I’ve made the switch I will be back and blogging away like mad on my newly designed (!) site.

In celebration of my first year of writing away, I am unveiling a new weekly series: Organizing Tip Of The Week.  Each week, on Monday, I will share a simple tip to help you keep the clutter away.

And now I am sending a great big cyber kiss to all of you who have followed me over the past year.

Thank you, thank you.

Much Love,

    • Katherine, you were one of my first followers, too! I think right there after my family. SUCH an encouragement for a beginner blogger.

And Kelly, SO excited for you taking the leap into self-hosted; I know we’ve emailed back and forth about it, but I’ll just say here that I know you’re going to relish the feeling of freedom when you can really spread those bloggy wings and fly on WordPress.org. Oh, you’re in for a treat! And thanks for the link love to my Migration series. I lol’d at your mention of it being “thorough.” “Overkill” is more like it! Ha ha.
