Organizing Tip Of The Week: Stair Basket

Tip #4: Keep a basket on your stairs to put things in that need to be brought upstairs.

Stair basketAwhile back I wrote a post about my love for my stair basket.  It’s a basket made to fit neatly on the stairs that I use to toss things in that have found their way downstairs, that really belong upstairs.  It makes putting things away so much easier and saves me many trips up and down the stairs.  Plus it keeps my stairs looking so much neater than they would if I was just piling things on them all day.  Give it a go and let me know what you think!

  1. Oh my gosh, I actually DO this!!! Maybe there is hope for me after all!!! :-)

  2. That is a beauty! Some years ago I got hit with illness that gave me pain and fatigue….just after I moved into a three-level townhouse! I learned to NEVER go from one floor to another without taking a few things at a time in whatever direction I was headed and then to do at least a couple of tasks on that level before going back to square one. I had a large basket next to the main stairs; the one you have is a fantastic design!

  3. i’m a fan of basket organizing…..since i do so much of my cleaning after the kids are in bed, i keep baskets outside each of their rooms….anything that belongs in their rooms…toys, clean laundry, diapers, etc….. gets put in the basket and then they help me put it away in the morning or sometime the next day.

  4. I saw a basket like this years ago and have always regretted not buying it. My stairs ALWAYS have something sitting on them waiting to go up, and a basket like that would look so much better than piles!

    • I actually spent a long time searching for one, until I found the one I have on Ballard Designs. It was a little bit of a splurge, but so worth it. They are actually having a 15% of store wide sale until June 17th if you’re looking to buy one!

  5. I really like this idea! Most homes in FL are single story, but when we buy, I’d love to get a two-story home (for many reasons…one of them being that I could utilize this nifty basket idea!).
